Instructions
For the Mashed Potatoes
  1. Place potatoes in a large pot. Fill the pot with just enough water to fully cover the potatoes and boil until fork tender. Once done, drain and place back into the pot.
  2. In the pot, combine potatoes with butter, milk, garlic, salt, and pepper using a masher to your desired consistency. Cover and set aside.
For the Salisbury Steak
  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form into 8 balls and flatten into patties.
  2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties, onion, and mushrooms in oil until patties are nicely browned, about 4 minutes per side. Remove the beef patties to a clear tray and keep warm.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the mushroom and onion drippings in the skillet. Gradually mix in the vegetable broth and season with salt. Simmer and stir over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens. Turn heat to low, return patties to the gravy, cover, and simmer for another 15 minutes.
  4. Place the garlic mashed potatoes in a container, make a well with the back of a spoon, and top with the steak patty and cover with more gravy. Sprinkle with parsley. Enjoy!
