This week’s recipe is Creamy Chicken & Mushroom Pasta!
Fun Food Facts!
What food do you think is one of the worlds most popular? If you guessed pasta, you’re right! Nearly every country in the world has different versions of this incredible food. While most of us may think that pasta was a food from Italy, it’s hard to know for sure where it really came from.
From kreplach dumplings to orzo, different versions of spaghetti span across the globe.
But when it comes to pasta in America, we do know a little bit more about its origin story. In 1784 Thomas Jefferson stayed in Paris and happened to eat a dish called macaroni. He enjoyed it so much so that he brought it back to America, and when he ran out, he quickly found ways to bring more over. While this was just the beginning, just like other foods, as large groups of people immigrated to America, they brought their tastes with them.
Finally, in the 19th century, pasta cemented itself as a staple in the United States.
PASTA DAY HISTORY
Believe it or not, there is such thing as Pasta day. National Pasta Day is October 17th! Pasta day was created by the World Pasta Congress on October 25th 1995. The world decided to come together and discuss the great noodle, and how important it was to recognize it’s history and properties.
Pasta Day exists to promote eating pasta and recognizing the staple food for it’s ability to end up in all sorts of meals.
How should we celebrate Pasta Day? One of the best ways is to prepare your favorite dish! (Like this weeks recipe!)
